UFC Saudi Arabia (Robert Whittaker vs Ikram Aliskerov)
what's up guys the UFC Saudi Arabia card just ended and it was a pretty good card man the main event was solid great knockout Cole Main Event had a heavyweight master class which is something we don't see too often a very technical skilled Beatdown instead of just the usual power punches for some crazy knockout that we usually see in the heavyweight division Johnny Walker getting knocked out like a Looney Tunes character again and he looked a little bit off in that fight great performances from prospects like muing gafurov and Felipe Lima I'm very high on that guy man he's probably going to go back down to the bantamweight division but Supreme talent that kid is and some very weird referee decisions and there from Mark godd
specifically with that whole fence grabbing thing between Sher magedov and Antonio trol that may have been one of the weirdest fights I've ever seen not just because of the referee but even troli like what was he doing out there but before we get into that let's go into the main event Robert Whitaker
(00:55) knocks out e malis 1 minute and 49 seconds into the first round I thought this fight was going to be somewhat competitive I did think Whitaker was going to win but I expected Eon to be a lot more threatening with his power than he showed to be he never even touched Whitaker really I mean it was a very easy knockout win for Whitaker the easiest he's ever had in his entire career and it just shows you going from non-ranked to top ranked is a very big difference most of the time right and I think above all else I think the loss to dupy made a lot of people believe that Whitaker was just over the hill or you know he's probably not in his prime anymore or something like that but no Whitaker is still a beast he looked fast sharp made intelligent adjustments against rram and performed better than any of us thought he would have the footwork of moving to the left getting on the inside of those knees and kicks so he could line up the right hand and rock rram with it I don't think rram has a great chin to be honest so that's his
UFC Saudi Arabia (Robert Whittaker vs Ikram Aliskerov second loss and both of his losses have been by knockout right Hamza koed him with one shot and Whitaker rocked him with the very first punch that he stunned him hard with you know a clean shot was all it took to just wobble him but at the same time it was a very powerful punch that Whitaker threw at him it was like one of those punches that he was throwing at adna in the first fight but that kind of approach works against different
kinds of opponents you know and the way that equim was constantly throwing that left kick it kept him planted for most of the fights so Whitaker knew he could Blitz in like that and land with his power punches and it was just like I was saying before it doesn't matter if he beat Hamza or rram a win here for Whitaker regardless of the opponent is going to put him in the same position where he should be one win away from a title shot and at this point he should fight either Shan Strickland or nardine ovov that should be the number one Contender fight now it's going to depend if he fights Strickland
clearcut winner fights the champion but if he fights imov then Strickland should get the title shot before Whitaker or ovov and as for eom mov he should take a little bit of time off remember he also did cut weight twice kind of not completely you know he was in the process of the beginning of his weight cut the week before this fight and I think that has to also be taken into consideration here maybe of how he got rocked right away from the first clean right hand but when he does come back I think he should fight guys like Andre money or anyone at the lower end of the top 15 or outside of the rankings and then let's go to the co-main event this was a shocker Alexander vov beats Sergey pavlovich by a decision that alone is a shocker by itself the fact that these two guys went to a
decision against each other and they did not pull their punches on each other at all right it didn't turn into like a sparring match between friends both these guys were looking to win either to knock the other out or put on a master class of a performance and that's what volov did he shut Serge pvic down an amazing performance and now has inserted
UFC Saudi Arabia (Robert Whittaker vs Ikram Aliskerov)
himself into the elites of the heavyweight division right pvic got schooled for three rounds and then the funny thing was volov wanted to shake hands with him right they're still supposed to be like former friends at least or acquaintances and then pelvis shoves him off and anger like what was all that about pic's stock plummeted after this whole fight not only has his Aura disappeared but the way he handled the loss I understand emotions are high for a fighter losing a fight like that but I've never seen pvic react like that before you know he seems like a very nice guy and maybe he had something against volov very distasteful from Sergey pvic man and volov did mention how sparring with pavlovich helped him in the fight as well right he said that the fight went exactly how their sparring matches used to go which is funny because before the fight volov said how scary pvic is in sparring every time he hits me it like shakes you up and stuff you know crazy power from this guy he made it seem like Serge used to
(04:24) get the better of him in sparring but now it looks like it was just vov being nice and the whole time this guy was out classing Sergey pvic and sparring I wish we all knew that before going into the fight because Sergey was a big favorite so now the question gets raised is pvic worse than we thought or is volov better than we thought probably a little bit of both but I'm going to be honest here I think more of the former I think pvic being so one-dimensional with his boxing entries with his footwork doesn't know
(04:50) how to handle kicks that well it just shows how limited his skills actually are he's a big Power puncher he's actually pretty decent in the pocket he knows how to manage distance in boxing Exchange very well but once kicks start getting thrown once the opponent doesn't just stand in front of them which I thought vov would do I thought vov will stand right in front of him because that's how he usually fights but he started moving around more than ever before and it just shows he knew to do that probably because of his experience sparring with pvic in the past once you do all that stuff in front of pavlovich even Tom aspel did it right throws some leg kicks moved around a lot he's just not as effective and then for vulkov vov fought the way he always fights except with more footwork because here's the thing now vov even though he great here against pvic and he's probably going to be a top five fighter now he still loses to aspal gone Jones and maybe even blades none of that changes so that's why I think pvic looked worse than vov
https://youtu.be/2mcbfDOu3Ww
UFC SAUDI AND gAME WINNER IKAM
(05:41) looked better right in the whole fight pvic was very onedimensional with all of his entries he got pushed out by volkov's front kicks and Jabs very easily vov showed how to manage distance with kicks even though his opponent had the arm reach Advantage right so a lot of times we talk about distance management and it's about the Jabs and what they could do with their boxing but not necessarily as much with their kick kicks Jon Jones is one of the examples of a guy who can manage distance with kicks vov is another example of that and it's awesome to see another heavyweight b as technical as guys like volkov aspinal and Ghar and that's where volov belongs now you know he should be fighting maybe well who does he fight honestly cuz he lost a s Gan you can't do that fight again maybe he gets the loser of blades and aspadol that seems to be the only other fight that makes sense unless you give him jalon Almeida and as for Sergey pavich you can give him probably marching Tibor or Sergey spivok right let him fight someone lower in the top 10 before going up against top five guys again and then we go to Kelvin Gastelum defeating Daniel Rodriguez by a decision something about this fight just doesn't seem right man it's the whole thing with the weight now I thought gam was going to win regardless but him not wanting to cut down to 170 lbs and strategically wanting to move the fight up to a catch weight for sure impacted the fight gasm was clearly stronger he didn't gas out showing that he was still in shape at a heavier weight which is very strange and easily ate everything Rodriguez to Adam which is not surprising I mean kelvin's always had a rock har chin most Fighters would have gotten knocked down or rocked by those punches but Gastelum he's a human fridge dude like he's just hungry all the time and he just eats your punches like he eats tacos but even in the third round Rodriguez told Gastelum hey man you feel heavy when they were on the ground with each other Rodriguez Was preparing to fight at 170 lbs Gastelum Was preparing to fight at 180 lb like this is just not fair these guys were completely in two different weight classes when they fought each other now again I do think gam would have won I think he's just the better fighter of the two but you just don't like to see that kind of thing man there were good boxing exchanges between the two fighters gam was getting the better of him in the first round and when Rodriguez started to acknowledge the power that gasam had which he even told his corner it started a debate between Michael Bisping in DC which they were doing all night Rodriguez actually fought better in the second round after right so there was that whole argument they were talking about when Rodriguez told this corner how hard gasam hits and I have to agree with bisbing a bit you know it's not bad for a fighter to acknowledge the opponent's power because it can sometimes get them to fight smarter be defensively responsible have sharper counter punching and even go into a counter punching style making that adjustment in the fight which Rodriguez did very well in the second round Rodriguez was trying to counter Gaston's power punches with his left hand and his jab and he was connecting beautifully on gasa then in the third round Rodriguez was the one that was slowing down not surprising watching his previous fights and gam overpowered him with his wrestling I don't know who you give Kelvin gasam next but he should never fight at 170 ever again and then we go to Shera magedov defeating Antonio troli by a decision this is one of the weirdest fights I've ever seen where did we start well what was troli doing in the beginning he threw a right hand that hurts Shera and he was doing pretty well there and then he became a punching bag after he was like the the SpongeBob Meme Antonio joli he was just standing there menacingly and did nothing bro just showed up to take a beating and leave and Sher wasn't even fighting him that intelligently this guy was throwing high kicks at a 6'5 opponent and none of it was Landing he threw good leg kicks and a few good side kicks to the body but the high kicks when that guy is like 6' five man there's no need in throwing hook kicks and round kicks to the head like that especially without setting them up first you know like Kelvin gam caught isra osna with a head kick is because of the way he set it up and it came out of nowhere nobody expected Kelvin to throw high kicks at adna or really at anybody for that matter Sher throws head kicks at everybody so like drai knew that's what Sher mov does and troli just stopped throwing hands dude he just stopped fighting and started just hugging him getting knocked out against the fence looked somewhat similar to Johnny Walker like him and Walker what happened to these two guys they're both huge Brazilians and just their brains melted mid-fight and it's really making the Brazilian Fighters look like they don't have much of a chin when you look at troli you look at Walker you look at Aliva you look at you know a lot of these guys and it's just like yo what's going on here what happened to the shog guns and the vanderlay and these other guys that could take a big shot did the usada era really make that much of an impact and then we talk about the fence grabs so troli grabbed the fence which really didn't impact the fight that badly right at least not as bad as when Sher Mago medov grabbed the fence but when troli did it Mar took away his position right I think he did it twice but they weren't like crazy you know it didn't give him that much of an advantage when he did it but then when Sher magam medov grabbed the fence and clearly stopped the taked down from succeeding for troli Mark Goddard did nothing bro almost had money money on Sher magedov or something no I'm just kidding I don't think refs can do that right what a strange fight and honestly it didn't make Sher magedov look that good because when you're fting a punching bag and it takes you that long to find your punches on him and honestly troli had no defense at all this guy was not moving his head this guy was not moving his feet and Sher decided to not throw punches until like toward the knockout sequence like the entire fight this guy was throwing kicks mostly he threw one straight that connected clean and then stopped throwing punches for such a long time which did make any sense but for their next opponents choli should be fighting in the pfl and Sher magedov could fight Chris Curtis or something right him beating Bruno Silva is pretty close to the top 15 and now he beat troli and he was supposed to fight two other guys before this so like or was it one other guy I forgot troli was a short notice replacement right because troli was supposed to fight e alisov and we know 100% that eam would have knocked this guy out very quickly but yeah I would like to see sherah maybe fight Chris Curtis and then we go to Vulcan us deir knocking out Johnny Walker in the very very first round he just walked Walker down and threw hands and koed him he did it intelligen
UFC Saudi Arabia (Robert Whittaker vs Ikram Aliskerov)
though you know he was not getting too Reckless finding his shots pretty well which honestly he didn't really need to the only thing that was dangerous that Walker threw back was that one flying knee and
(11:43) honestly Walker wasn't that funky he would isn't even doing anything Walker has absolutely no Chin he cannot fight well going backwards and that dangerous combination of no defensive technique and no Chin gives every one of his opponents the signal to just walk him down and throw hands at him but again Walker looked a bit off even with those weaknesses because he wasn't throwing wild flashy techniques except the one flying knee and it looked like he just gave up really quickly in the fight didn't even want to be in there he
( didn't even look as good as he did against Uncle LV maybe he came back way too soon from that knockout but his Corner did tell him to stay calm which I think was a mistake kind of like I said in the prediction video if he decides to fight calm he would be playing it vulcan's game and you saw what happened Loney Tunes knockout so the number nine ranked Vulcan beats the number seven ranked Johnny Walker you know what fight you do this is the perfect matchup vcan usir versus Alexander Rock hitch that's the fight to do next because even though Rock hitch is number five and number six is Nikita krov and krov beat Vulcan is just who else do you give Vulcan usir at that point if you're not going to give him Rock hitch I mean he can't fight going backwards right he's going to be number seven most likely I mean he could fight CLE rre he's number eight but I like to see him fight Alexander Rockit or you could give him yam bovich or Jamal Hill I mean did call both those guys out so we have three fighters in the top 10 the should be fighting up we have khir rry Vulcan uzir and Nikita krov these three guys need to fight someone in the top five so this is what you do you do khil rry versus Jamal Hill put that fight back together you do Nikita krov versus yam bovich and then you do Vulcan uzir versus Alexander Rock hitch so that means the number three four and five fighters versus the number six eight and nine Fighters and those are all great fights too as for Johnny Walker he should probably retire I'm going to be honest here if not retire fight Carls olberg and I know this seems kind of crazy it's like yo do you want to see this guy just get un alived no but that's who's next like okay give him bdon guskov that's not any better give him Dominic ryes Reyes at this point would knock this guy out like Alonzo manafield is a safer fight than those three but like this is these are the opponents for Johnny Walker olberg guskov or Reyes and he's getting koed by any one of those three Fighters nazra hakaras defeated jarro Gordon by a decision which I believe should have went to jarro Gordon this guy he just cannot win a decision at this point he got robbed against Petty pimpit and he should have beaten Haka Pros in fact he should have a five fight unbeaten streak but instead he's 22 and one in his last five fights when he should not even have a loss in his last five but hackpro show some fast hands Landing left straights and uppercuts as Gordon was constantly ducking from the overhands and hooks so that was a good adjustment from hakaras
(14:18) there but Gordon just has an insane chin man he ate these shots and just put the pressure on hakaras in the second round showing heart and determination and it's so tiring and discouraging to punch a guy so much like that and he just walks through all your punches man and in the third round Gordon was pressuring well with his Southpaw jab Landing precise punches as Haw Pros is moving his head it was a good performance from both Fighters I think jarro Gordon should have won the fight and the funny thing is if he beat HW Bros on those scorecards and he won the fight against Patty pimpl this guy would probably be in the top 15 right now or fighting someone in the top 15 and we know the whole thing with the no contest against Bobby green too like jarro Gordon is performing the best he's ever done in his entire career but he keeps getting messed over on the scorecards then what about Filipe a Lima man defeating muhamad naov by a third round submission that was very impressive Lima looked great he looked fast very technical great leg kicks excellent kickboxing skills naov got overwhelmed early but wrestled to slow the pace of the faster fighter because again Lima is a bantamweight and he was Landing some good punches but this is kind of annoying from the commentators when good defense is being showcased it's rarely ever appreciated or even mentioned by the commentators there was a moment in the first round where leav was throwing combinations while NAA was against the fence and all the punches were blocked and they were blocked skillfully like these are not just I'm kind of getting away from them no naimov had very clean technical solid boxing defense going on and none of it was acknowledged At All by the commentators in fact the commentators were mentioning how Lima's combinations are so nice none of those punches landed and not only did they not land the reason they didn't land is because naov defended them technically and this happens way too often man unless the opponent is like moving his head like Muhammad Ali does on the ropes defense is never appreciated by anybody it's crazy but what they did mention was naov size right he was definitely the bigger fighter going in there and it played a factor in that one takedown where Lima tried to roll out of it but naov was just so big and heavy he sat on top of him and controlled the rest of the round and then in the second round Lima slowed down a bit but he was still able to land some great body shots right hooks to the body body kicks the Nyo is fighting very well in the standup sharp with a straight and put on good pressure at moments and then in the third round Lima got very aggressive he went for the body lock got double underhooks on naov naov tried to go for the trip and Lima reversed him jumped on his back which I completely did not expect from someone like Felipe Lima to do that on naov is very impressive and quickly choked him out like he didn't have to fight for the choke he didn't have to fight for the position that much everything was very precise with the grappling sequence there just like it was with the Striking sequences of Felipe Lima excellent performance man now I do think he going to go back down to the bantamweight Division and I see this kid being maybe a top five fighter in the future it's a very competitive weight class look at the Rena fak dinov defeating Nicholas Dolby by a decision I thought Dolby probably won the fight but it was extremely close Reena stunned him with that straight in the first round knocked Doby down to both of his knees had good wrestling throughout I thought in the second round Dolby landed the better shots and then the third round I thought he edged reot according to effective striking but extremely close man very very close he had that one high kick some good punches to the Head and stuff but it was a pretty decent fight and ever since destroying Kevin Lee Rena hasn't been looking that dominant in the UFC he had a draw against zeleski dos Santos and now a very close Split Decision win against Nicholas Dolby and the way he throws punches is so weird when Doby was up against the fence renot was throwing hooks at him with his arms completely extended straight out and throwing hooks like that it's so weird
UFC Saudi Arabia (Robert Whittaker vs Ikram Aliskerov)
(17:54) he would get slept if he threw punches like that against guys like Wonderboy or Jeff Neil or Michael Paige or Leon Edwards like any of these guys would destroy reot if he boxes with them like that muen gafarov had a good decision wi against Kong kyong ho showing really good combinations like that one double body shot left took over the top into the right low kick beautiful standup skills from gafarov there man he was physically strong in the grappling but Kong was definitely way more skilled on the ground than gafarov was got his back almost got a rear Nick a choke at one point but then in the third round toward the end of the fight gofro landed that one right hand as it looked like Kong try to go for the takedown similar to the way that volkanovski landed his right hand in the fifth round against Islam and rocked him but goov didn't go to the ground with Kong he was throwing punches allow Kong to get back up to his feet goov hit him with a wheel kick and almost got a finish but Kong got Saved by the Bell lost a decision but you know ave from saved him from getting knocked out maged gatov defeated Bron robero in a very close decision win I thought Brenson of course won the first round I thought he could have even won the second round potentially it depends how you look at that one Guillotine because it was tight it was all the way locked in that was the closest the fight got to a finish so if someone said rera won the fight Because of Him securing the first and second rounds I could see it maged did have top control and he was Landing ground and pound shots and stuff but but that second round was very very dicey man and for a guy who was such a massive favor like magomed that fight should not have been that close and the light kicks as well from the first round Rober was slamming on that leg even hurt Mong at one point with those but decent performance by both Fighters Branson rero definitely surprised urised me with how well he fought and Ling Chong ho defeated long Xiao by decision and this is also very close a lot of people did think that long Xiao should have won the fight but Ling chongo had a lot of nasty body shots in the clinch good knees good elbows some good punches these guys were just swinging at each other from beginning to end constant wrestling constant clinching a very grueling fight
